This is a silly activity I actually left for my students to do with a substitute while my team met with Jan Richardson *GULP* but they came out so sweet I had to share. More on Jan later...
After reading Ten Apples Up On Top, the kids practiced writing ordinal numbers on pictures from the story (sorry no pics of that) and then they drew a picture of themselves doing a favorite activity with "ten apples up on top." Here are a few examples:

"I can hang out with my teacher with ten apples on my head." :P
