The kids used these cards to discuss each choice for power supply, main meat source, town location, and crops. I have 4 table groups so I made 6 sets of cards. I wanted to have a teacher set and an extra set for emergencies. I color-coded each set with dot stickers before I laminated them so they could all get back to the correct home if they got mixed up. This was the white set so the dots may not be visible in all the photos. I made the cards in Power Point (3x5"), printed onto cardstock using our color printer, stickered, and laminated each set. You could also print out the pictures on regular paper and paste them onto index cards but I'm all for skipping as many steps as I can get away with. I printed the blurbs onto 2x4" mailing labels and stuck them on the back of each card before laminating.

I decided not to write blurbs about the different crops. I thought it would be a little too much for my guys after weighing the pros and cons of all the other choices. The kids basically picked what they thought the most people would like to eat. They did debate a bit about the fruit because they knew that fruits that grew on trees would need more space than the other choices.

Enjoy! If you want the files I used to make these cards leave your email below. I haven't had much luck lately with GoogleDocs so I'm not even going to bother with that :P
I would love a copy of these cards to do this activity! Thanks!
