Monday Made It

I'm linking up with 4th Grade Frolics to share with you my Monday crafting bonanza. I guess its not really a "bonanza" if you only make one thing but I'm happy about it so whatevs! Check out Tara's page to see what she and other bloggers made on Monday too!

So I was feeling a little down and decided to take a trip to Michael's for some inspiration. I came away with a haul but thankfully everything I bought was at least 40% off so I didn't have to break the piggy bank. Here is everything I bought, but the Monday Made it just used the wine bottle gift boxes, Modge Podge and wrapping paper. But I'll get to that in just a hot minute.

I've been salivating over all those round labels out there (too many to name a specific source) and was super excited to find this 3 inch circle punch on sale for $10.

I also picked up these micro beads and vase-fillers to use for some fun mani projects. I'm wearing watermelon nails today :)

And last but not least I found this shallow metal bin in the summer party/picnic section for $6. I'm thinking I might hang it on the wall and put a cute sign in the middle, or use it with magnets. Haven't really gotten that far yet. I added some random magnets from my fridge just in case you didn't believe me :P

So on to the "Made it"... It all started with these fun guys originally seen on Teacher Tipster. This picture is from a cute blog called How About Them Apples?

My kids were OBSESSED with these all year. I couldn't believe stacking freaking bathroom drinking cups never got old! But anyways, after I made the Power Towers, I started hoarding saving Pringles cans to use on projects unknown. I tried to use them for storing rulers, but it drove me insane that the rulers were taller than the can and you couldn't use the lid. So when I saw these wine bottle boxes at Michael's for $2 each, I knew my ruler storage problem was solved! Disclaimer*** I know this doesn't solve my Pringles-can-hoarding problem but that's a whole different kind of crazy that I will tuck away and deal with later....

I was excited about finding something tall enough to store rulers but being vehicles for alcohol, they were all decorated with some sort of paraphernalia. Actually, they weren't ALL decorated with cocktails, there were lots of fun animal prints too. I just chose these because I liked the green color on the lid. Enter adorable wrapping paper and Modge Podge! I must admit that first I went to the scrap booking paper aisle to find something to cover these, but then I realized the scrap booking paper comes in 12"x12" or smaller, which doesn't really help with something taller than a ruler.... :P

ANYWAYS, I worked my magic, added a little brown ribbon, and here is the finished product:

I think I will use the leftover wrapping paper on other projects to tie it into the room a bit more.

AAAAAANNNND...... Just because it's Summer and I might have lost my mind, I'm going to show you my summer hair cut.... Actually the cut is not what's different.... Maybe you can figure it out. :P I decided to let out my inner rocker for a spell.
Rock on blogger friends!
