YIKES!
I swear I've cleaned this. Multiple times.
This is just a cheap-o desk chair I got at staples years ago (I took these pictures after I took the back rest off). It has been the envy of many teachers for 5 years. People would come into my room and say, "OMG I love your pink chair!" I swear. But this past year, no one said anything about my chair. Because, let's face it, it looks disgusting. With moving to a new school, I knew I couldn't bring this into my room as is. So after a little staple gun magic....
TA-DA!
And when all was said and done, I decided not to put the back rest back on. It wasn't padded so I couldn't recover it with the same fabric, and I decided I really liked having a little rolly polly stool to scoot around on. Plus the lever that raises and lowers the seat is broken (did I mention I paid $15 for this chair 5 years ago???) so the seat is permanently stuck in the lowest position possible. I think I will use this at my guided reading table and/or to scoot around the room while students are working (I'm lazy. Walking is for fitness geeks).
Along the same vein - I've been collecting/making things to display as decor in my new room. I don't know why I'm so concerned that my room is "cute" this year, but I am. So I found this at Target on sale for $11
Then I found this cute mirror at Hobby Lobby on sale for $6, but it was the wrong color. It would be the right color to hang up in my house, but not my classroom. But I loved the shape and the little knob I will use to hang my badge so it doesn't get lost so I bought it anyway.
Hello there! I was sticking out my tongue at you but it didn't show. I may take some sand paper to this to rough it up again but I'm not sure about that yet.
Now are you ready to see what I'm planning to do with these things? Mind you I laid it out on the floor because I am lazy, and don't have access to my classroom, and I didn't want to put holes in the wall. I'm thinking of hanging these up (with a clock I found at Target and frame I got at Home Goods) as a gallery wall, or whatever you call it on one of my strange shaped walls.
Maybe like this?
Dakota is curious
Or maybe like this. Not sure yet.
Thanks for the motivation Tara!

Fabulous and Fun 4th Graders
I am also really wanting my room to be cute and comfortable to be in. I love it when I walk into my room with a breath of relief, knowing that myself as well as my students are going to enjoy the classroom. Also, I never thought of using a staple gun to attach fabric, must get one!!
