I can't control myself friends.
I try to curb my school spending. But then I don't. Because it's more fun to buy stuff than to pine away over it. I may need an intervention.
The other day I went to Michael's to get ONE THING. Before I left for the store I wrote this on my hand:
I managed to walk out with only the item I needed. The funny thing is that I am pretty good at helping the people I shop with figure out if the item they are pining away over is something they need or don't need. I don't sugar coat it either. But I have a hard time doing this for myself. So here are some of my recent purchases. Feel free to tell me what I don't need.
I got this DVD set on Amazon for a steal. I have most of the episodes downloaded from Discovery Education, but I decided it would be a good idea to own the DVDs too. That way I could delete the digital files to free up some storage space, and I feel like I should pay for it considering how often I use these videos. This is the complete season, with EVERY episode ever made. I got it for $25, but now its $42.
I also got these on Amazon. I haven't purchased any professional development books in years so I figured I was way over due. I wasn't going to buy the WBT book, since you can find pretty much anything you need online for free, but I decided it would be a good idea to have the information handy for myself.
I got these next few items from Vista Print. There was a great Groupon not to long ago that gave you $70 worth of product for only $17. How could I pass that up???
Envelopes
Postcards. I designed these so I could use them anytime, not just to welcome students at the beginning of the school year. I've already sent a few to former students.
I also got a custom stamp made.
Cute!
Really good stuff from Really Good Stuff.
I found a coupon for $50 off $200 and used that as an excuse to buy some things I've had on my wishlist for a while. I love these binder holders for individual book bins and I needed a classroom mailbox because my new school doesn't provide one like my old school did.
There's tons more buried away in my garage but I don't plan to come to terms with that unnecessary spending until I unpack my boxes in my new room. It will take me that long to come up with a good rationalization anyway.
You know I love to shop! I didn't see anything terrible though, in your items here. They must be in the garage.
ReplyDeleteThe only saving me thus far is the imposed budget...
This is a DANGEROUS time of year especially if you are a blog stocker and see all the great things others are getting for their classrooms!

Yep! Got my gift all wrapped and ready to go!
DeleteThank you for the Ziploc crayon storage idea. I am going to use this in my first grade classroom. I found some similar sized containers- 0.50cents for a pack of 3 on the clearance rack in the back of a store. I bought all they had, which was 24 total, and spent only $4.00. I'm new at this but
ReplyDeleteI'm catching on fast.
