Investigating my new home away from home

Yesterday was the last day of school. So naturally I woke up at 4 AM unable to sleep and went to my new school to check out my new room. I previously posted that I was going to be in a brand-new room. This turned out to not be the case but the trade off is that I get a HUGE closet. I'll take it! It's not that exciting but here are some pictures of my new sad looking room.

My one and only bulletin board

Movable wall between classrooms. Because sometimes a door is just too complicated apparently.

Sad, sad, sad cabinetry and shelving. Whoever was in here before left sticky gunk all over these cabinets. Sigh.

Student cubbies and more shelving

My sweet daddy measured every inch of the room and diagrammed it for me. I am enlisting him to make me some bookcases since I only get ONE for the room. It is attached to the floor. Cannot be moved. Umm OK.
BTW - we couldn't find any rulers in the room so he made this drawing using a popsicle stick as a straight edge!

And finally... I know you've been waiting to see it...
My new GiNoRmOuS closet!!

Thanks for checking out the BEFORE pics! I'd like to say the AFTERs are coming soon but I won't be able to start working in my room until late August, when many of you will have already started back up again. I guess that means that everyone else will be done by then and I can steal their decorating ideas!

  2. Such potential! I would LOVE to have that closet. Your dad is so sweet to help like that! I can't wait to see the finished product. Your blog is looking very snazzy! I love flamingos as they remind me of a dear friend. I am owl obsessed, myself! Can never have too many! Have a great summer!

  3. Wow, I would LOVE to have a storage closet! Your closet's almost as big as my room. ;-) Hope the gunk comes off without too much scrubbing.

  4. I just HAD to come chek out your blog.... after all, you liked the fabulous flamingos!! haha

Congrats on the New... OLD classroom!! Hey...A Big closet trumps all...EXCEPT mobile walls!! I had a huge closet too when I had mobile walls....they tricked me!! Don't fall for it!! At least your entire classroom was not built from mobile walls... that's a plus. I LOATHED my mobile walls and had to constantly re-shape my classroom as students went in and out of the "Classroom"... however, I had great students and wonderful admin, so I really couldn't complain.... and... sometimes my classroom looked more like a rhombus than a rectangle, so those teachable moments were fun..."Hay Kids - What shape is our classroom today?" haha

Your dad seems so sweet!! I hope you have a nice summer and maybe you will get lucky and there will be a new TV series called, "Pimp My Classroom" with your classroom being the first in line..haha

    Thanks for stopping by!!

  5. I am so jealous of your closet. My dad made me bookshelves my first year of teaching and after 5 years, they are still my favorite thing in my room.
